International Flights from Bali Spike 5.43 Percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali saw 2,505 wide-body aircraft flown abroad in April, an increase of 5.43 percent compared to March of 2,376 aircraft.


“The aircraft carried 454,882 passengers during April 2017, an increase of 8.67 percent or 36,300 people compared to the previous month of 418,582 people,” the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Bali chapter director Adi Nugroho said today in Denpasar.

He said that the international passengers comprised mostly of foreign tourists enjoying their vacation in Bali.


Bali received 477,464 tourists in April. Some 474,338 people arrived through Nugrah Rai Airport and 3,126 went through sea ports.

The number of arrivals in April increased by 25.40 percent on a year-on-year basis and 12.21 percent on a month-on-month basis.


Five major destinations of international flights from Bali are Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Hong Kong.


Compared to the previous month, the number of flights to Australian increased by 9.47 percent, a 1.53 percent increase to Singapore, a 19.17 percent increase to Malaysia and 5.79 percent increase to China. On the other hand, the number of flights to Hong Kong slipped by 6.20 percent.


The number of outgoing passengers to Australia increased by 10.47 percent, a 6.7 percent increase to Singapore, 15.20 percent increase to Malaysia, 11.18 percent increase to China and 5.78 percent increase to Hong Kong.


Compared to April 2016, the number of flights to Australia declined by 4.03 percent and Hong Kong dropped by 17.49 percent.


Meanwhile, international flights to Singapore, Malaysia and China increased significantly by 21.15 percent, 36.84 percent and 83.57 percent, respectively, Adi Nugroho said.
