TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has independently formed a fact-finding team to crack down on acid attack case against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) senior investigator Novel Baswedan. The team has been collecting information on the ground and overseeing the investigation launched by the National Police.

The Komnas Ham Monitoring Subcommission team Maneger Nasution said that the team has questioned Novel Baswedan’s family and other witnesses living around the KPK investigator’s house in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The provisional results show that the attack against Novel was allegedly planned, done by professionals and masterminded by prominent figures.

“It’s an extraordinary crime. There’s a conspiracy behind it,” Maneger told Tempo on Sunday.

Maneger decline to reveal the information the Komnas HAM team has collected. He will today meet the KPK leadership to discuss the findings.

Today marks the 55th day of the mysterious acid attack against Novel Baswedan that left Novel with wounds to his eyes, forcing him to undergo surgery in Singapore.
