Landslide Hits Ponorogo; 27 People Buried

TEMPO.CO , Ponorogo - Landslide hit Banaran village in Pulung district, Ponorogo regency, East Java, on Saturday (1/4).
The landslide has left dozens of homes damaged and a number of people buried and have not been rescued.
“Based on the information that we’ve gathered, there are 27 people buried in the landslide. However, the information is still not confirmed yet,” said Acting Head of Ponorogo Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Sumani.
Sumani added that before they were buried, the people were harvesting ginger in a hill and some of them could not save themselves due to the condition of the land that is now stable yet after heavy rain on Friday.
As time of writing, the evacuation process is still under way.
