TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - A member of Bekasi Legislative Council (DPRD) from Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan faction Yudi Darmansyah demands Bekasi government to immediately revitalize Cikarang market that was set on fire on October 2015. "Local government has to be firm and fast in providing the best solution and saving this traditional market which is an important asset of the city," Yudi said in Cikarang on Sunday (19/3).

Yudi added that the revitalization is supposed to begin in 2016 since it was allocated in 2016 additional budget. However, to this day, nothing has been initiated.

Most of the sellers demanded the construction to be done as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, Yudi said, they asked the government to do the construction instead of using the system of building operate transfer (BOT). "This BOT system will use fund from the third party or private party in which they will seek profit by charging it to the sellers," he explained.

Yudi expects the demand can be met since the fund from regional budget (APBD) is quite high. By using the budget in a two- or three-year periodic system, Yudi is convinced that the construction process will go smoothly. He added that for example, with 500 billion budget, the construction can be done in two or three years, so only 150-200 billion is taken from the budget each year.
