TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Non-active Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama known as Ahok said that public cinemas will be built in Jakarta.

It is planned that these cinemas will be build in city-owned markets, PD Pasar Jaya.

"We plan to build the cinemas in all Pasar Jaya so that airing time of national movies can be extended. That’s the goal," Ahok explained in XXI Cinema of Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini, Central Jakarta on Saturday (18/3).

Ahok claimed that not all residents of Jakarta are able to access big cinemas due to the cost of the ticket. In addition to supporting the development of national movies, it is expected that the number of movie goers will be higher since the cinemas are situated in markets.

This program, he said, will be initiated this year. He added that there will not be any problems despite the end of his office and the possibility that he will not be reelected this year. Furthermore, he is working with big movie producers to support the program.

He also expressed that he plans to issue special tickets for workers of Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU).

He also wishes to have filming complex in Jakarta. He claimed that he has expressed his plan to State Film Company (PFN) and the complex is available in East Jakarta. Any foreigners planning to produce a movie will be directed to the complex.
