TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Aceh’s Department of Culture and Tourism is set to hold a fashion show on Muslim-wear dubbed Aceh Islamic Fashion Parade (AIFP) on May 16-17, 2017. ”It’s made possible by collaborating with Sisterly Community of Aceh,” said the Head of the department, Reza Fahlevi on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Reza explained that the Islamic fashion show is an attempt to support Aceh in becoming the leading religious tourist destination. “Especially considering that Aceh has been named as the world’s best halal destination,” he said.

Reza hopes tourist visits to the Aceh Province will increase in the future, ”especially, since the trend of tourist visitations, either domestic or international, increases each following year,” he revealed.

According to him, the 2017 AIFP has become the venue for creative young people of Aceh that are interested in the fashion industry. He hopes that this generation can take Aceh fashion to compete in the global fashion industry. He says that the unique characteristics of Aceh fashion-wear cannot be separated from its culture and the variety of patterns.

The 2017 Aceh Islamic Fashion Parade event will kick off with its main fashion show featuring works from local designers. It will be followed by a fashion design contest, make-up competition, and the naming of an Islamic fashion ambassador.
