Police Apprehend Alleged Terrorist in Bandung Bomb Attack

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Anton Charliyan has confirmed that an alleged terrorist has been apprehended in Bandung. According to Anton, the terrorist was wounded but police could yet identify the wounds.
Anton has said that there may be other suspects at large. Therefore, the Gegana continues to comb Pandawa Village Hall in Bandung.
Anton could not confirm an involvement of any terrorist ring in the explosion at Pandawa Park. Police are still identifying the victim.
“The firearm and a backpack brought by the perpetrator have been confiscated. We have combed [the area]. To find out whether [someone] is still hiding,” Anton said.
Anton said that situation was under control. However, locals were expected to stay away from the scene to allow the police to search the area.
Anton said that an explosion was heard at 9 am at Pandawa Park. The perpetrator allegedly brought a homemade explosive of a pan filled with nails. Anton added that it was a low-explosive bomb.
