Ahok Most Mentioned on Twitter after Gubernatorial Debates

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Twitter has analyzed the platform’s conversations on Jakarta Gubernatorial election since the first debate on January 12. It has ranked the most mentioned name or Twitter accounts of the hopefuls.

“The ranking does not indicate certain sentiment towards the candidates,” Twitter Indonesia stated in a press release, as quoted by Antara.

Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama (@basuki_btp) ranked first with a total of 2.5 million tweets, followed by Agus Yudhoyono (@agusyudhoyono) with 1.4 million tweets and Anies Baswedan (@aniesbaswedan) with 910,000 tweets.

Twitter also noted the enthusiasm of its users during the third gubernatorial debate on Friday.

Based on the Twitter’s Live tab and real-time events feed, some 600,000 tweets with the hashtag #DebatFinalDKI (Jakarta gubernatorial election’debate) were posted. Meanwhile, the enthusiasm peaked at 9:30 pm on Friday with 1,800 tweets per minute.
