TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Jakarta Governor Sumarsono said that the provincial government will help arrange insurance cover for material losses suffered in Senen Market fire that broke out this morning, January 19, 2017.
“The government will provide compensation only if there were any casualties, that’s the solution for now. I have no further plans except for helping with arranging the insurance cover,” he said today.
Sumarsono said that firefighters could yet put the fire out as the wind had made it even bigger instead. “It hasn’t been put out entirely due to the wind,” he said.
He said that the fire was possibly caused by a short circuit.
Sumarsono said that he will make evaluations to mitigate the fire and avoid recurrence. “I will evaluate the condition of all markets in Jakarta, to prevent possible fires in other locations, not only in Senen,” he said.
