TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi made a public apology for the incident of a Citilink pilot who was allegedly drunk when he was about to fly a plane.
"First of all, I would like to apologize to the public for this inappropriate incident and I would like to thank the public who are critical and report this incident,” Budi said in East Java on Saturday.
The minister added that the incident serves as a valuable lesson fro Indonesia’s aviation world and the ministry will do re-structuring by delegating authority to the airlines.
Budi also said that if Citilink had implemented standard procedures such as health test and checking the crew before the flight, the incident would not have happened.
The minister further said there are regulations breached by the airlines that led to the incident.
"We will evaluate the existing regulations and carry out more firm legal enforcement”, he added.
