Minister Predicts Public Transportation Passenger Increase

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi predicted that there will be an increase of public transportation passengers during Christmas and the New Year holiday season. The increase is predicted to be around five percent. "There will be an increase from 17 million to 17.9 million passengers," Budi said on Thursday, December 8, 2016.


The number of passengers traveling by air is predicted to have the largest increase of nine percent, from 6.5 million to 7.1 million. The second largest increase of passengers will occur on trains, which predicted to reach six percent, from 5.2 million into 5.5 million passengers.


Meanwhile, road transportation passengers are predicted to increase by 0.28 percent, from 2.58 million to 2.59 million passengers. In addition, rivers and lake public transportation passengers is predicted to increase by 0.27 percent from 1.812 million to 1.817 million passengers.


On the other hand, sea transportation passengers are predicted to increase by two percent.
