Rally in Monas; Army Personnel Guard BI Building

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) is tightening security around its building to anticipate unwanted incidents related to the rally in Monas today, December 12. Nearby workers said the army is being mobilized to secure areas near the central bank's headquarters.
"It seems like there is more TNI personnel wearing green uniforms," Sherly Amri Anis, a dentist who works for Bank Indonesia's Welfare Foundation, told Tempo Friday.
Despite tightened security, Sherly said everything is going normally inside the BI building; employees come to work as usual. The central bank also has no agenda to have workers leave earlier.
Meanwhile, things at the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) are quite relaxed, with fewer security guards seen compared to last month's rally on November 4.
The Indonesia Stock Exchange's (IDX) spokesman Yulianto Aji Sadono said everything is normal around the SCBD complex.
"Trading is open. Most bourse members are also willing to operate," Aji said.
