TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Agus Rahardjo, stated that his institution is ready to assist Ministry of Defense in returning state losses caused by the corruption conducted by the Army’s Director of Finance, Brigadier General Teddy Hernayadi.

Teddy was convicted with a lifetime sentence by the East Jakarta Military Court, on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. He was proven to have altered the purchasing budget of the 2010 – 2014 main weaponry system for the amount of US$ 12 million.

“So if there’s some left from the US$ 12 million that can be collected, KPK will assist,” Agus said on Thursday, December 1, 2016.

Agus said that KPK has the responsibility to coordinate and supervise law enforcement on any act of corruption. That is the reason why KPK have observed the litigation of Brigadier General Teddy.

He also added that the purpose of eradicating corruption isn’t only to punish. But also to retrieve state assets.
