TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that she would continue to follow Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) efforts to eradicate mafia practices at the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of Tax (Tax DG).

Sri made the statement in response to an allegation of Tax DG officials' involvement in graft cases.

"I will continue to follow what KPK has done, and like I said before, I will grant access [to KPK] and use the findings to improve the Tax DG," Sri Mulyani said after giving a lecture at the Padjajaran University in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016.

Sri hopes that Tax DG officials without integrity will be punished. Sri also called on other Tax DG officials to be committed to their jobs and avoid grafts.

During the lecture, Sri Mulyani mentioned about a graft case entangling tax auditor Handang Soekarno and the importance of trust to reform the taxation sector. According to Sri, the improvement efforts made in the taxation sector has been tainted by the case.

"In terms of trust, we're striving for a reform, improving [the taxation sector], and removing and correcting those who have no integrity," Sri said.

Sri Mulyani also revealed steps to be taken to realize the tax reform, including those not only related to tax law revisions, "but also database information system, business process, and HR, so that we can realize a competent, credible, and trustworthy Tax DG."
