Lippo Karawaci Launches Lower Middle Class Housing Development

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Propertycompany PTLippo Karawaci Tbk. (LKPR) has launched housing development program for lower middle class people. The program will be completed in the next five years. The company will commence the program by developing 2,000 houses. Thereafter, it will develop 10,000 houses per year.
“We believe that the our market target would welcome the project,” Lippo Homes CEO Chan Chee Meng said Wednesday.
The project will start in Lippo Village, before expanding to other location suitable with Lippo Cikarang concept, i.e. areas having the infrastructure and established environment as well as other strategic locations in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) and other big cities in Indonesia.
Chan Chee Meng said that the housing development project would benefit from the rapid growth of Indonesian middle class population, which is expected to increase from 55 million to 135 million by 2030. The company has also factored in Indonesia’s young population. As many as 60 percent of people in Indonesia are currently aged 30 or below.
