TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The panel of judges presiding over Jessica Kumala Wongso murder trial over the death of Wayan Mirna Salihin will give a sentence to Jessica next Thursday.

“The panel of judges will give the sentence on Thursday, October 27, at 10 am. The public prosecutors [JPU] are expected to bring the defendant [into court],” presiding judge Kisworo concluded the rejoinder on Thursday, October 20.

Prior to concluding yesterday’s hearing, associate judge Binsar Gultom asked Jessica whether she felt remorse having gone through the trial.

“Before a sentence is imposed. Do you want to say something from the bottom of your heart? Because only God and you yourself know the truth of what you did. We can only judge,” Kisworo said.

Jessica replied that she was not guilty of murdering her best friend Mirna. “No, I felt no remorse, because I did not do what has been accused [against me],” Jessica said.

Binsar later said that Jessica shall wait for deliberations of the panel of judges.

It was Jessica’s last chance to read out her defense, before the judges make their sentencing decision.

It was the 31st hearing attended by Jessica. The prosecutors seek 20 years sentence for Jessica, who is charged with premidated murder of Mirna.
