TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Industry Ministry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Ministry has made standardization of low-cost housing.
"We made a standard for windows and doors for low-cost apartments so that later we can build aluminum-based or wood-based houses," said Industry Minister Airlangga Hartanto said in Jakarta on Friday.
Airlangga added, the cooperation is a follow-up of the 12th Economic Policy Package Package on public housing construction released by the government this week.
In the policy package, the government has cut up to 70 percent of permits for developers who want to build low-cost housing.
"Housing is an essential need for the people. Each cutting of costs will certainly boost development growth," Airlangga said, adding that the government needs to create standardization so that developers do not build cheap housing as they wish.
Although it is cheap, housing intended for low-income communities must be habitable, Airlangga added.
