TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Industrial Ministry and its supporting creative team launched 'Ekuator', Indonesian-made premium quality shoes "We must be proud of our own brand. Ekuator is now available to carry Indonesia’s name," Director General of Small-Medium Enterprises Euis Saedah said in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.
Ekuator come in seven different designs, including Sumatra, Java, Bali, Madura, Celebes, Papua and Borneo.
Currently, the shoe is produced only by Fortuna Shoes, a small-medium enterprise (SME) located in Bandung, West Java.
"In the future, all SMEs will be able to produce Ekuator by complying with the production and quality standards. We will also provide training for SMEs considered to hae the potential to produce Ekuator," said Euis.
Eighty percent of Ekuator's raw material came is produced domestically, while the other 20 percent of the materials are imported, like the base of the shoe, which is imported from France.
A pair of Ekuator shoes is sold at Rp 2.5 million. The first fifty buyers who orders the shoe through www.ekuatorindonesia.com will receive a Rp 500,000 discount.
