TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and Riau Governor had instructed officers standing by at the Integrated Task Force for Forest and Land Fire Outpost to continue extinguishing fire in several hotspots.
"Although its Eid al-Fitr, officers from the integrated task force continue to extinguish fire, both by air and by land," said Sutopo Purwo, Head of BNPB’s Data and Information Center in a press release on Wednesday, July 6, 2016.
Based on observation made by the Terra Aqua satellite on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, there are at least 49 hotspots spread in many regions of Sumatera.
Sutopo said that Air Tractor planes and MI-171 helicopters continue to carry out water bombing and locate hotspots in the region.
"Regions that are on fire mostly hard to reach, so water bombing is very effective," Sutopo said.
