Jokowi to Celebrate Eid Day in Padang

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo continues the tradition of celebrating Eid in the regions.
This year Jokowi is set to celebrate Eid Day in Padang, West Sumatra.
"The president is scheduled to arrive in Padang on Monday, July 4, 2016," said West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno on Saturday (2/7).
Irwan said Jokowi will be in Padang for three days from Monday to Wednesday or until 6 July.
On Tuesday (5/7), Jokowi will meet with Padang residents and hande over Eid parcels at three points in the city, followed by an iftar Governor office auditorium.
"The President will distribute Eid gifts to the poor people in Padang. Later that night, he will join the takbiran in West Sumatera Great Mosque" Irwan said.
"We're 100 percent ready to welcome the president," said Irwan.
Last year, President Jokowi celebrated Eid Day in Aceh.
Jokowi does not follow the tradition of the Eid celebration, which was held at the Presidential Palace by the previous presidents.
