TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said the city has successfully eradicate child exploitation issue with the removal of 3-in-1 carpooling regulation.

“The most important thing is one; the successful one, we no longer see exploited people. Children had been given sleeping pills, hadn’t they? Jakartans have our own values. We don’t condone it,” Ahok said on Monday, May 16, 2016.

Ahok hoped that child exploitation can be completely eradicated since Jakarta administration has issued Jakarta smart cards for poor residents. The card can be used for health treatments or tuition fees.

In addition, he also believed that the removal of the carpooling system will not face any difficulties. Aside from the availability of Waze app which enables people to seek alternative roads to avoid congestion, Jakarta public transport has also been improved.

“We now provide world-class buses for busway corridors. I believe it is a right decision to remove [3-in-1 policy],” he said.

Jakarta Transport Department has decided to scrap 3-in-1 policy. The decision has taken effect starting today. The decision to remove 3-in-1 regulation was made after a joint meeting of Jakarta City Transport Council (DTKJ) and Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
