TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - According to Governor Basuki, or better known as Ahok, the audit of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on the 2014 finances of the Jakarta administration was full of holes. He claims the audit was carried out to undermine his credibility. Last week, Ahok sat with Tempo to share his annoyance at the fuss over the Sumber Waras land deal.

Why do you say the BPK audit contains many errors?

The BPK doesn't understand the rules used in the Sumber Waras land sale. For example, the Jakarta government was cited as having violated Presidential Regulation No. 71/2012 on Land Acquisition. Yet, this regulation was not used because it'd been revised. The BPK also failed to include the Jakarta government's input in the audit results.

Yet, you came when the BPK summoned you during the audit.

I wanted to show the BPK the right way of doing things. If I hadn't come, I would've been accused of committing something wrong. They tried to entrap me during the questioning. The documents had been turned around as if I were the guilty one.

We heard you became very angry.

I was upset because they tried to put me in a corner as if I'd forced the sale of the Sumber Waras land.

Have you ever had problems with the BPK?

I don't know about that. It seems clear everyone wants to find fault with me. And that's a big mistake. This audit smacks of politics.
