Flood-affected Residents in Riau Suffer from Diseases

TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - Riau Health Agency reported that residents affected by the floods that hit the province are now beginning to have diseases due to shortage of clean water because of the floods.


"The residents are prone to have diarrhea and rashes,” said Head of Riau Health Agency Andra Sjafril on Sunday (14/2).


Andra also said that based on the data of Riau Health Agency, in Rokan Hulu, 8 cases of diarrhea, 25 cases of respiratory diseases and 7 cases of rashes were reported.


In the meantime, in Kuantan Singingi, the number of patients with rashes reached 182 people, while the number of patients with diarrhea reaches 53 people.


Andra added that the number of patients was like to rise because floods have also affected Pelalawan and Indragiri Hulu.


He added that the Heatlh Agency had coordinated with Crisis Management Agency of the Health Ministry to anticipate the outbreak of diseases after the floods.
