Pedicab Drivers Report Ahok to Human Rights Commission

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ten representatives of the Jakarta Pedicab Union (Sebaja) visited the National Commission for Human Rights to report Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and his subordinates for taking their pedicabs by force.
One of the pedicab drivers who came to the Human Rights Office was Daryono. "They took it like thieves," Daryono said on Tueday, February 2, 2016.
Daryono said he did not get any explanations why they took away his pedicab and has no idea how to retrieve it.
Previously, Sebaja has carried out a protest in front of the City Hall, demanding a revision on Jakarta Regional Regulation No.8/2007 on Public Order. The law states that pedicabs are prohibited to operate in the Jakarta area.
Rasbullah, Sebaja administrator, said that if the Jakarta government decided to ban pedicab from operating in the capital, Ahok should provide an alternative solution for pedicab driver on how to rn a living. "We are told to seek other jobs, but what? These are difficult times," Rasbullah said.
