TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian said that his institution had taken several measures to secure the returning waves of people to the Capital City after year-end holidays. Tito said that the peak of the returning waves was projected to occur on Saturday, January 2, 2016 and Sunday, January 3, 2016.

In order to anticipate traffic congestion, Tito said that the Jakarta Police had set several security outposts at intersections, including the Karawang-Bekasi arterial road.

Tito added that Police would also cooperate with toll road operator Jasa Marga to speed up toll road payments to prevent long queues.

“Jasa Marga has promised to provide an additional toll booth and more officers. In addition, Jasa Marga will utilize automatic gates,” Tito told journalists in Jakarta on Saturday, January 2, 2016.

Tito revealed that the Jakarta Police would also apply a contra flow strategy in an event of huge volume of vehicles coming from Cikampek. Finally, Police would deploy officers to prevent vehicles from stopping on road shoulders that could cause long queue on roads.
