TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Celebrated film director Riri Riza is coming up with the idea of making his upcoming family drama set in 1950s. The film entitled ‘Emma’ mostly depicts a mother’s role that is largely influenced by South Sulawesi traditional cultures.

“[It is] a film about a mother, but with Sout Sulawesi culture as a background. And it is set in 1950s,” Riri Riza talked about the film after the Indonesian Film Directors Club on Thursday.

Riri believes that the movie would open a new perspective about a mother’s role. Shooting phases were done in 30 days in Makassar, Sengkang and Pare-pare, to hit the big screen next year.

Salman Aristo, who has written scripts for successful Indonesian films ‘The Rainbow Troops’ and ‘The Dancer’, joined Riri as the script writer. Other big names in Indonesian role-playing industry such as Cut Mini Theo and Jajang C. Noer are said to cast for the film.
