TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate and the Jakarta Transportation Agency formed a special task force involving the Public Order Agency to watch traffic violations.

“[The special task force] is not only aimed at watching the Uber taxi operation, but also all traffic violations, such as driving against traffic, illegal parking and making illegal stops [for public transportation],” Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto, the head Traffic Directorate’s Enforcement Division at the Jakarta Police, told Tempo on Saturday, September 12, 2015.

According to Budiyanto, the special task force will be mobilized to all parts of the Capital to detect and map violation-prone areas. The special task force, Budiyanto added will act based on reports from the community.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Andri Yansyah explained that the special task force was established due to recent alarming traffic violations. Andri said that the special task force was assigned to raise public awareness about traffic order. Andri added that there would be 100 personnel deployed to watch traffic violations.

“There will be 25 personnel from the Transportation Agency, 25 from the Public Order Agency and 50 from the Jakarta Police’s Traffic Directorate,” he said, adding that those personnel would be deployed to watch violation-prone areas, such as the Old Town, Tanah Abang, Pasar Senen, Monas and Jatinegara.

Andri revealed that the personnel would also rely on information generated by Clue, an online-based public information system. The special task force, Andri added, would also follow up public reports extended by the mass media.
