TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said Thursday, August 27, that the Ciliwung normalization program will be continued andresidents of Bukit Duri, South Jakarta will be relocated. "Relocation will be done soon," said Ahok, as Basuki is usually called.
Bukit Duri is located opposite to Kampung Pulo, East Jakarta, that was cleared last week. Now, houses in Kampung Pulo had been flattened. These two locations is separated by the Ciliwung River.
Ahok guarantees all Bukit Duri citizens would receive Government public housing units. Therefore, he asked the people who agree to be relocated soon occupy available flats.
Ahok admitted, from a total of 150 units of flats in Cipinang Besar Selatan and 144 units in Pulogebang provided to accommodate the residents of Bukit Duri, there are units that are not ready to be inhabited.
Nevertheless, he guaranteed the construction contractor flats are ready to correct existing deficiencies within six months. “After occupying, residents can report any shortcomings," he said, adding that imperfections can happen when we build our own house let alone hundreds of flat units.
Residents of Bukit Duri said until now they have not receive information when the eviction will be carried out. They seemed resigned to the Jakarta government's plan. “Resisting seems to be impossible," said Tata, resident of RW 12 Bukit Duri district, on Thursday. She admitted that they wish there was a compensation for their house being evicted.
Another Bukit Duri resident, Hussein, recognizes the concerns of citizens has risen as many who do not have a certificates of ownership to claim damages when later evicted. "Many people only have deeds of sale," said the Head of RT 15 RW 10 Bukit Duri. According to Hussein, not many people care to register the deed it into certificates.
