TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina’s new fuel, Pertalite, is set for immediate launching in three cities. The trial will be done in Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya," said CEO Dwi Sutjipto on Wednesday July 22. “It will involve 103 gas stations.”

Pertamina Spokeswoman Wianda Pusponegoro added pertalite is set on trial to see public’s response towards the new kind of fuel. "We are looking forward to begin immediately," said Wianda.

Rumor has it that Pertamina will distribute 1,000 tons Pertalite at first. Pertalite is Pertamina’s new fuel product, with octane below 90 – in between Pertamax (92) and Premium (88).

Therefore, Pertalite is likely to be tagged in between the two products. Despite the medium quality that Pertalite boasts, Pertamina assures that it will not disrupt premium production. "We have done mapping and we decided not to cut premium production," said Wianda.
