After Mt Raung Eruption, Ngurah Rai Airport Back to Normal

TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - Ngurah Rai international airport in Bali has gone back to normal and is now in operation again.

The opening is even faster from the previous schedules.

“Initially, we would close the airport until 12:00. However, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that there is no danger (from Mt Raung haze anymore), so now the airport can operate starting at 10:00 am Central Indonesian Time” said Co. General Manager PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai I Gusti Putu Ardhita.

The first aircraft departed at around 11:00, which was a Garuda Indonesia plane bound for Melbourne, Australia. One hour later, planes were allowed to land in the airport.

“Our priority is departing planes,” he said.

Previously, PT Angkasa Pura announced that the closure of the airport would be extended to Saturday (11/7) at 12 am Central Indonesian Time.
