TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Service is organizing integrated transport facilities for Eid from July 2 to July 27, which is 15 days before (D-15) and nine days after (D+9) Eid al-Fitr, or Lebaran, that follows the fasting month.

"We are organizing integrated transportation services for Eid to ensure smooth flow of travelers during the festival this year," Andriansyah, the head of the Jakarta Transportation Service, said on Tuesday.

He added that his office will also conduct field checks on the facilities at the three main bus terminals and 19 supporting terminals.

While the three main bus terminals are Pulogadung, Kampung Rambutan and Kalideres, the 19 other terminals include 10 intercity bus pool stations and nine supporting terminals in Tanjung Priok, Tanah Merdeka, Rawamangun, Pinang Ranti, Pasar Minggu, Muara Angke, Grogol, Rawabuaya, and Pulo Gebang.

The bus pool stations are Garuda Mas, Kramat Djati, Gunung Mulia, Raya, Gunung Harta, and Primajasa PU in East Jakarta; DAMRI (Jakarta Kota station); and Safari Darma Raya, Kramat Djati, and Sinar Jaya Megah Langgeng in South Jakarta.

Furthermore, the Transportation Ministry has extended the operation period of transport services for Eid ul Fitri 2015 to 26 days, from 14 days in previous years.

Transport services for the festival this year will operate from July 2, which is 15 days before Eid al-Fitr (D-15), to July 27, nine days after Eid al-Fitr (D+9), Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan said while launching an Eid al-Fitr command post on Thursday, July 2.

As the operation of means of sea transport needs more time, Eid al-Fitr transportation services will be offered for an extended period, he explained.

In addition, the ministry has tightened the supervision of flow of various modes of air, land and sea traffic.

Jonan also expressed hope for a smoother homecoming journey of Eid al-Fitr travelers this year, as the construction of the Cikopo-Palimanan toll road has been completed.

The new toll road is expected to significantly reduce the flow of traffic on roads in the northern coast of Java.

Moreover, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono affirmed recently that all national roads across the country are ready to accommodate Eid travelers.

Millions of people across the country will be traveling to visit their families and friends in their hometowns for Eid al-Fitr.

At a press conference, following a coordination meeting held at the office of the Transportation Ministry to discuss Eid al-Fitr transport operations, Hadimuljono stated that he had deployed officials in the field to directly monitor the readiness of roads.

Although more than 60 percent of the roads are ready, several others are still being repaired, such as one in Sumatra and the 20-kilometer-long Selamatan Kalimantan lane, he added.

"Roads in Sulawesi are ready. In Java, the section between Cirebon and Brebes has been improved but is still vulnerable to landslides," the minister pointed out.
