KPK: Govt Officials Not Allowed to Receive Parcels

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Eradication Corruption Commission will immediately issue a handbill ban on parcel acceptance for government employees. In the handbill states that all government employees are legally prohibited to accept and/or request holiday allowance to businessmen. “We will soon issue a handbill to prohibit government employees from requesting holiday allowance or parcels in government offices. Its currently in process,” Giri said on June 27.


In the study, the act is included in the criminal world. “Because it could be categorized as bribery or extortion,” said Giri.


As stated in Article 12B paragraph 1 Law on the Eradication of Corruption, bribery is givien in the form of money, goods, rebates, commission, interest-free loan, travel ticket, accomodation facility, tour, free medication and other facilities. If unable to refuse the granting of those gratuities, state officials of government employees should report it to the Eradication Corruption Commission no later than 30 days after the granting. If not reported, they are threatened to a maximum of 20 years in jail.


The request for holiday allowance have frequently become the mode of corruption for state officials.
