TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of National Police Badrodin Haiti said that the plan to examine former Finance Minister Sri Mulyani as a witness related to corruption and money laundering in crude oil or condensate sales involving Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (PT TPPI) was intended to gather information. Badrdin said that being examined does not mean that Sri Mulyani will be immediately declared guilty for corruption.

Sri Mulyani's name was listed in the Supreme Audit Agency's audit documents in the central government's financial statement in 2012. Based on the audit, Sri Mulyani, who was serving as the Finance Minister at the time of the audit, approved an indirect payment to PT TPPI for condensate sales. Approval for the payment was stated in a letter No. S-85/MK.02/2009.

The Finance Minister's approval, according to the audit result, did not take PT TPPI's financial difficulties into consideration.

Sri Mulyani, now working as the Acting Director of the World Bank, is scheduled to be examined on July 10, 2015.
