Pertamina to Evaluate Pertamax Fuel Price

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina has planned to evaluate prices for non-subsidized Pertamax and Pertamax Plus fuels that was recently increased. The evaluation is aimed to look at the development in the market after the price hike.
“We will look at consumers’ responses and the international oil price,” Wianda Pusponegoro, Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication, said on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
According to Wianda, the evaluation results will determine a decision whether Pertamina will apply new prices.
On Saturday, May 30, 2015, Pertamina increased the prices of RON 92 and RON 95 fuels, so called Pertamax and Pertamax Plus, by Rp500 and Rp150, respectively. The prices are higher by Rp200 that those applied by private gas stations to similar products.
According to Wianda, the fuel price hike has been planned since May 15, 2015, as a result of increasing market price index.
In terms of the price differences with competitors, Wianda said that it was not unexpected.
“We can’t tell others to increase the prices. But if they do, Pertamina will have to adjust [the fuel prices],” she said.
