Jokowi Calls on Ministries to Boost Budget Absorption

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil said that a number of ministries/institutions have low budget absorptions.
"The President has called on the ministries to boost the budget absorption," Sofyan said on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
Sofyan explained that the ministries/institutions, particularly those directly related to national development, have made their best efforts to increase budget absorption as reflected by higher realization figure in early 2015 compared to the same period last year.
Sofyan ensured that issues related to goods and services procurement will be resolved in order to optimize capital expenditure absorption for infrastructure development starting mid-2015.
"The [budget] absorption was suspended due to the Revised State Budget. But we're catching up now," Sofyan added.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo revealed the issues with budget absorption during a plenary meeting on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2015. Jokowi said that he was relieved that the budget absorption for May 2015 had improved compared to the same period last year.
