TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Darwin Muksin, the secretary of the North Sulawesi Industry and Trade Agency said on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, that North Sulawesi has shipped five units of Minahasa traditional house to Malaysia on April 2014.

According to Darwin the total volume of the export stood at 53.2 tons and contributed US$276,250 to the state's foreign exchange.

Darin added that Malaysia, along with Europe, Asia, the United States and Africa, has been the main export destination for Minahasa traditional houses.

Darwin said that the Minahasa traditional Houses, or stilt houses from Woloan, have managed to reach the market in Malaysia since foreign buyers believe that the quality of the products has been improving from time to time.

"The government has continued to empower craftsmen and encouraged them to improve the [house's] quality," Darwin said.

Since North Sulawesi was established as the center of stilt houses production in 2014, the province has managed to meet demands from other regions in Indonesia and other countries.
