TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Johan Budi Sapto Prabowo, an acting deputy chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), confirmed that the anti-graft commission had arrested Andriansyah, a politician with the ruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

“His initial is A,” Johan told Tempo on Friday, April 10, 2015.

Johan also confirmed that Andriansyah is a PDI-P politician. However, the KPK has yet to officially announce the alleged corruption case implicating Andriansyah.

KPK officials on Thursday, April 9, 2015 arrested several individuals in Bali, including Andriansyah, who is currently serving as a House lawmaker from the South Kalimantan II electoral district.

Prior to being a lawmaker, Andriansyah was appointed as chairman of the South Kalimantan chapter of the PDI-P in 2010. Five years earlier, he served as chairman of the Tanah Laut chapter of the PDI-P in South Kalimantan.

Andriansyah was also elected as Tanah Laut regent for two periods since 2003. In 2006, former president Bambang Susilo Yudhoyono had allowed the police to probe Andriansyah for allegedly receiving bribe money to issue mining permits.
