Jokowi Begins State Visit in China, Hopes to Ink Deal

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo arrived at the Beijing Capital Airport in China on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, to begin his state visit to China, which is scheduled to take place on March 25 through March 27, 2015.
President Jokowi and his entourage arrived in Beijing at 18:30 local time, and was greeted with several high-ranking officials, which includes Indonesia's Ambassador to China Sugeng Rahardjo, as well China's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Liu Zhen Min, before heading to Beijing's St. Regis Hotel, where the President and his entourage will be staying for the duration of the visit.
On Thursday, March 26, 2015, President Jokowi is scheduled to inspect Beijing's Metro Subway network, before moving on to the Great Hall of the People to meet directly with the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan. President Jokowi is expected to sign a bilateral cooperation deal between Indonesia and China sometime within the duration of the visit .
It is known that President Jokowi's entourage includes Indonesia's First Lady Iriana Widodo, and several other Ministers and other senior officials from the Working Cabinet, which includes Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sofyan Djalil, Minister for Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel, State-owned Enterprises (SoE) Minister Rini Soemarno, Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, the Chief of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Moeldoko, as well as the Head of the Indonesia’s Investment Coordination Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani.
President Jokowi and his entourage is expected to fly to the Hainan Province to attend the BAOA Forum for Asia on March 27, 2015, before flying out for another engagement in Malaysia afterwards.
