TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the shooting done by motorcycles thieves to a resident in Bintara Jaya Bekasi, Bekasi resort police conducted a raid to motorcycles in the city.

As a result, the police secure 16 undocumented motorcycles.

"Many motorcycles do not have any documents at all,” said spokesperson of the Bekasi Police Adj. Comr. Siswo to Tempo, Sunday, 8 March 2015.

The raids were conducted on Jalan Raya Ampera in Bekasi.

Siswo added that in addition to arresting those illegal motorcycles, the police also arrested 23 orang. However, after they were questioned, they were released because most of them were only illegal motorcycle racers.

Siswo also said that the raid was aimed at reducing crime rates in the city. He also believed that the raid would be able to limit the movement of criminals in the city.

Commenting on the shooting incident, Siswo said that the incident was purely a motorcycle theft and the thieves shot down the victim because they were caught trying to steal the motorcycle.

"We’re still investigating the case,” Siswo said.

For the record, Acam Mulyadi (48), was a Blue Bird taxi driver who was shot dead in his house in West Bekasi District, Bekasi, Saturday, March 7, 2015. The victim died with a wound in the stomach.
