TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A recent survey carried out by pollster Populi Center has shown that Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama is the country’s regional head with the best leadership, defeating Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini, according to its respondents.

“Ahok tops the list, followed by Risma,” Populi Center head Nico Harjanto told Tempo on Monday, February 9, 2015.

Nico explained 22.3 percent of the respondents favored Ahok, who was followed by Risma (18.2 percent) West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (8.4 percent), Acting Banten Governor Rano Karno (6.8 percent), East Java Governor Soekarwo (6.8 percent), Central Java Governor Gandjar Pranowo (6.2 percent), Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil (5.2 percent), North Sumatra Governor Gatot Pujo (2.2 percent), and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya (0.4 percent).

The results showed 2.5 percent of the respondents preferred other regional heads, while 20.9 percent abstained.

Nico said the survey involved 1,200 respondents from 34 provinces who were chosen via a multi-stage random sampling method conducted from January 16-22, 2015 in face-to-face interviews. The survey’s margin of error is 2.98 percent and its trust level is 95 percent.
