Govt Bans Minimarkets from Selling Liquor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel officially banned the sale of liquor in class-A minimarkets. Any alcoholic drinks mini class A. Beverages with alcohol content of more than five percent can now only be sold in supermarkets and hypermarkets.
The minister said any minimarket found to be selling liquor will have its license revoked.
The liquor sale ban in stipulated in the Trade Minister Regulation No.06/M-DAG/PER/1/2015 on the Control and Supervision of the Procurement, Distribution, and Sale of Alcoholic Beverages. The bill was signed on and valid since January 16, 2015. Minimarket owners have until April 16, 2015 to sell out of take away their liquor from store shelves.
