TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government will cut down the number of working units in each ministry starting this year in a bid to save the state budget. In lieu of these task forces, the government will set up an IT-based integrated service system to replace the task forces' functions.

In the next three to four years, the government will reduce the number of existing work units by half to around 10,000 to 12,000 units.

"All units will be given inputs and references from other countries," Askolani, the Finance Ministry's director general of budget, said yesterday.

Askolani hopes this policy will be able to save the state budget by up to Rp16 trillion, as planned by President Joko Widodo.
