TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of Ragunan Zoo visitors on Saturday, January 3, 2015, reached 50,000 people, showing that the zoo located in South Jakarta is still attractive as a tour destination for Jakarta residents.
Ragunan Zoo spokesperson Wahyudi Bambang said that the zoo’s operational hour could be extended due to increasing number of visitors during the holiday season.
“The operational hour might be extended, depending on the situation,” Wahyudi said.
Wahyudi added that during the Christmas and New Year holiday season that coincides the school holidays, the highest number of visitors was 193,660 visitors on January 1, 2015.
The Ragunan Zoo displays about 1,900 endemic and non-endemic animal species on a land with a total size of 140 hectares. Wahyudi said that elephant cages, in addition to Schmutze Primate Center, are among the most visited places.
