TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi claimed his city is ready to host the XVII ASEAN University Games (AUG) which will be held on December 9 to 21.

“Let alone AUG, Palembang is ready even for Asian Games,” said Imam Nahrawi when he visited the Jakabaring Sport City in Palembang on Friday, December 5.

During the visit, Imam inspected the athlete camp, athletic and football stadium, water sport and shooting arena, tennis court, and other supporting facilities.

“Central government will support the funding,” Imam added.

South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin said that hosting AUG is easier to prepare compared to SEA Games or Islamic Solidarity Games.

“Because all of the supporting facilities are complete,” the governor said.
