TEMPO.CO , Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked President Joko Widodo to be consistent in combating corruption.
KPK deputy chief Busyro Muqoddas said the president's consistency in the issue should be questioned in light of the latter's stance to support the plans that investigations into regional heads should be done in stages.
Previously, the Provincial Government Association asked that governor suspected of corruption should first be investigated by internal personnel prior to being probed by by law enforcement agencies.
"President Jokowi should be consistent. Investigation should be carried out directly. It does not have to go through the association. It is illogical," said Busyro.
Busyro said the system was causing tangled and inefficient bureaucracy and delay case completion. "It has the potential to remove evidence. Therefore, it is not reasonable," he said.
