TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission searched the office of Irman, director-general of population and civil registration for the Home Affairs Ministry. The raid was related to an alleged corruption in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP). This was Irman's second time being searched by the KPK after a first raid in May this year.
"The search is related to the investigation of an alleged corruption for the procurement of the e-KTP for suspect S (Sugiharto)," Priharsa Nugraha, KPK's chief of reporting and information, said via text message yesterday.
Investigators also searched Irman's car, taking out two large bags and two black sling bags from the car before taking them into the office. The search ended after more than an hour.
Irman refused to say anything when reporters ask him for comment. KPK investigators also did not provide information about the search.
In may, 2014, the KPK searched Irman's house and office. The antigraft body had also prevented Irma and four other people from leaving the country.
Recently, Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo instructed the police and the KPK to investigate the possibility of fake electronic ID cards circulating among the public. He requested officers to check on servers used to store citizens' identity data.
