TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial government has determined minimum wage (UMP) for 2015 Rp2.7 million. Jakarta Acting Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama signed the decree on Monday.
“The letter will be announced tomorrow,” said Ahok on Monday, adding that the number is the rounding up of Rp2,693,764.40, the UMP proposed by entrepreneurs. The Labor Forum, on the other hand, proposed Rp3,574,179.36.
The Jakarta Wage Council previously set Decent Living Standards (KHL) for 2015 at Rp2,358,174, increased by 10 percent compared to last year’s which was Rp2.2 million. Ahok said the KHL had considered price hike in some commodities such as fuel, transportation and nutrition.
The Jakarta Wage Council assembly did not yield any agreement on the UMP. Two proposes were eventually put forward.
Ahok believes entrepreneurs and workers will agree with the UMP. He also does not allow entrepreneurs to ask for delay in imposing the new UMP. “No more delay,” said Ahok.
