TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President and vice president-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf 'JK' Kalla have been suggested to discuss the revised state budget for 2015 since November 2014. The state budget that had been approved by the House of Representatives (DPR) is yet ideal for Jokowi-JK’s programs.
"The discussion of the revised state budget for 2015 doesn’t have to wait [until] January-February. We don’t want Jokowi’s programs to be late-executed," Enny Sri Hartati, director of Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef), said to Tempo yesterday.
Earlier, JK said that working programs such as the Indonesia Smart Car, the Indonesia Health Card and sea toll road project have yet been covered in the state budget.
The economist from PT Bank Permata Tbk. Josua Pardede considered that the revised state budget should be discussed in early 2015 at the latest, which would be unusual since the discussion is usually conducted when the first semester ends.
"It would be too late for Jokowi to arrange the state budget after the first semester," Josua said.
An urgent matter that needs to be changed in the state budget is to reduce fuel subsidy by increasing the prices. According to Josua, it would provide Jokowi with spaces to run his programs.
"Market makers don’t want the fuel price hike to be delayed," Josua said.
