PHRI Opposes One Day sans Jakarta Vehicles in Bogor

TEMPO.CO, Bogor – The head of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of Bogor chapter, Adhy Satrianto, has rejected the planned policy of a day sans vehicles with B license plates (registered in Jakarta) in the municipality.
“Bogor residents who own vehicles with B license plates will definitely oppose it, not to mention businessmen,” he told Tempo on Thursday, September 18, 2014.
Adhi said that in a recent meeting with the Bogor administration officials, there was a plan to open parking zones for residents of Jakarta and its outskirts wanting to go to Bogor for a vacation, in which they could park their vehicles and continue their trips using public transports.
“So Jakartans who want to go to Bogor for shopping and culinary journeys don’t have to waste their time in traffic congestion,” he said.
Saung Kuring restaurant manager Oshin said he feared that restaurants, hotels, shopping centers and tourism destinations would lack visitors should the policy take effect.
“This policy will affect the number of visitors to Bogor and will cause a decrease in our revenue,” he said.
