Chairul Tanjung May Replace Jero Wacik, Says State Official

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary of State Sudi Silalahi said that Coordinating Minister of Economy Chairul Tanjung will also serve as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), replacing Jero Wacik. "His [Jero] replacement might be Chairul Tandjung," said Sudi.
The post for ESDM Minister is currently vacant as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Jero Wacik as a suspect of extortion and power abuse that resulted in misappropriation of funds worth of Rp9.9 billion. Jero himself has delivered his resignation letter to president SBY on Friday.
The post itself is going to be given to ad intern minister as Jero is supposed to be elected as parliament member. Besides ESDM, several other ministers are to give their post to ad intern due to similar matter such as SME and Cooperation Minister, Religious Affair Minister, and Communication and Information Technology Minister.
